Valeri Larko has spent more than twenty years painting urban and industrial landscapes on location primarily in New Jersey and New York. This mid-career survey features a broad range of works from the earliest, painted on-site in Jersey City, up to the present, painted in the outer boroughs of New York City.

Featuring the work of photographer Christopher Barnes, with photographs from the 1980’s when the hospital buildings stood empty, abandoned and deteriorated; historic photos; and Mr. Barnes' recent work documenting the process to stabilize them, undertaken by Save Ellis Island, Inc., the National Park Service partner for the adaptive reuse for these structures. Once the largest US Public Health Service hospital in the country, constructed to treat ill and infirm immigrants, the buildings are slated to become the Ellis Island Institute and Conference Center..
