Timeless: An Exhibition of Drawings

September 30– December 21, 2008

Bickford and Bush Compton Galleries

This is an exhibition of drawings by artists from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, assembled by curator Ann Aptaker.   Work of established and emerging artists from the museum’s home region will include contemporary drawings as well as drawings from earlier generations. The exhibition embraces two concepts:  first, that drawing emerges from an immediate and total relationship of the artist’s hand with the drawing instrument or medium, thus embodying a spontaneity and risk; and second, the very act of drawing connects the artist to humanity’s earliest, most mysterious consciousness.
