Arts Education Information Summary

The Morris Museum welcomes philanthropic support for its educational programs. As a teaching institution, arts education is central to all programming at the Morris Museum. We reach out to the northern New Jersey community with a broad range of activities for students, children, adults, families and educators. Our service to the culturally diverse region features exhibition programs, school outreach, art education for children and adults, public workshops for children and families, and professional development seminars for teachers.

  • Exhibition Programs are field trips to the museum for school groups to study an exhibition with a museum educator and to complete a related art project.
  • Outreach Programs bring the museum to students and teachers who are unable to visit on-site
  • School Loan makes it possible for teachers to borrow portable exhibits containing handling objects with lesson guides to enhance classroom curricula.
  • Professional Development Program for Teachers is a series of workshops that offers resources and tools for teachers and school administrators. A registered professional development service provider, these museum programs relate to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
  • Public Programs for Children and Families include art workshops for children, family festivals with art, environmental and science-related activities, weekend workshops, vacation day family workshops, children's summer day camp and summer and year-round musical theatre offerings.
  • Art Education for Adults offers art classes taught by local artists.

Through the visual and performing arts, the Morris Museum offers our diverse constituencies a major cultural center of creativity, discovery and learning that is dedicated to an environment in which the visual and performing arts, sciences and humanities flourish. For information regarding philanthropic opportunities for corporations and foundations, please call the Director of Advancement (973.971.3705) or our Grants Manager (973.971.3732). In addition to programmatic and operating support, they can discuss the Assuring the Future capital campaign.
